“To forget one’s ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without a root.”—Chinese proverb
What’s so great about a book?
You’ve spent years, perhaps decades, assembling information about your ancestors and neatly filing it in precisely labeled folders (or perhaps stacking it in a box in your closet). You know what’s there—or at least most of it—but it’s hard to show anyone else unless they’re really interested and willing to sift through piles of papers with you.
Creating a book will change that. With a book, your loved ones can learn at their leisure about each relative you have researched. All of the information you have about that person–pictures, documents, dates, and stories–will be in one place, organized for easy reading.
What will be in my book?
I will organize your pictures, narratives, documents, and fan charts into a clear and comprehensible whole that makes all the effort you’ve put into this endeavor more valuable to others. No longer will you only have a chart of names and dates to display to others who are interested in your work—those names and dates will now be complemented with the accounts and images that make your relatives come alive as flesh-and-blood people. When we’re finished, you will have a beautiful book to share with your family that chronicles where they came from and who their ancestors were through photos, documents, and narratives.
What do you mean by “narratives”?
Narratives are the stories and other information that you have about a person organized into paragraph or essay form so that it is easily read.
