Pricing for Personal Biographies:
Classic package:
The first step for a biography is creating audio recordings of the thoughts and memories you want to share. We will begin with 5 hours of recorded interviews. I will then transcribe them, edit them into story form, and format the pages into an attractive hardcover book. With this package, you will receive digital copies of the interviews we conduct and the transcriptions I make of them, as well as a clothbound hardcover copy of your book. The classic package is available for $1900.
Starter package:
If you aren’t ready to create a full document but would like to record interviews, we can create a set of digital recordings of 5 hours of interviews. These are a great keepsake by themselves, or they can later be turned into a full book. The starter package is available for just $200. If you later decide to transform your interviews into a book, the cost of the starter package will be credited toward the cost of the book package.
Custom package:
We’ll work together to decide how many hours of interview time are necessary to write the book you envision. For each hour of interview time, it will take between ten and fifteen hours to transcribe, write, revise, edit, and design the text that grows out of it. When we are finished, you can choose any sort of binding you want for your book. Once we discuss your needs, I’ll offer you the option of a custom package price or an hourly rate.
Extra copies of your book:
Perhaps you want leather-bound for your own copy but clothbound for others. Or maybe you want some paperback copies for friends. We can get your book bound however you like. Prices will vary.
Editing and coaching:
If you’ve already got a book that you’ve been writing and you want help reviewing and editing your work, or if you want help composing a book yourself, we offer those services at an hourly rate of $35.
Pricing for Genealogical albums:
A base package assumes that you will provide digitized and labeled pictures, documents, fan charts, and narratives organized by couple. I will then edit the narratives and format and assemble your 12 x 12-inch book on Shutterfly. When it is finished, you will receive the complete file, which will allow you to purchase as many books as you like. It will also allow you to customize books for cousins who might only be interested in part of your work by removing those pages which are not relevant for them. The cost for the base package is $35 per two-page spread; tree chart pages and cover are included at no additional cost.
If you would prefer that I digitize your pictures and documents, create narratives from the documents you provide, or any other additional service, those tasks will be billed at $35 per hour. If you would like your book to be a size other than 12 x 12-inches, custom packages are also available.
